Our Story

Black Butterfly Art was born from a simple belief: everyday objects deserve original art.

We are designers and makers in one. We do not sit in a studio drawing pictures and hand them off to strangers. We come from manufacturing — years spent directly with fabric, choosing canvas weights, testing prints, and learning how a design behaves once it leaves the screen and lives on something you carry every day.

That is our advantage. Most brands selling printed bags are design studios that outsource everything, or factories that copy other people's artwork. We are both the designer and the manufacturer — which means the pattern on your bag is made by the same hands that understand how it will wear, wash, and last.

Designer and Maker, Under One Roof

Being both gives us control that other brands simply do not have:

Designs built for manufacturing. Every pattern is drawn with production in mind — balanced for the fabric, tested for print clarity, and refined until it works on a real product, not just on a screen.
Direct quality control. Because we know the process from the inside, we catch problems early — a print that fades, a seam that pulls, a material that does not hold up. We fix them before they reach you.
Honest materials, honestly stated. We tell you exactly what something is made of, because we choose those materials ourselves. If a bag is water-repellent, we say water-repellent — not waterproof.
Fair pricing, no middle layers. Working directly between design and production means less markup passed on to you.

Original Designs, Hand-Drawn

Every pattern you see begins as hand-drawn artwork. We sketch it, refine it, then translate it onto fabric — first for our printed canvas bags, and now for our velvet throw pillow covers and wall art.

You will not find our patterns anywhere else. We do not copy trends or reproduce other people's work. Each collection starts with an idea — a mood, a myth, a season — and grows from there.

What We Make

Printed Canvas Bags — crossbody bags, backpacks, sling bags and totes, built from 16-oz cotton canvas and durable polyester, with prints that stay vivid.
Velvet Throw Pillow Covers — 18x18 inch covers in high density Holland velvet with double-sided original prints. Cover only, insert not included.
Wall Art — original prints to bring the same artistic feel to your walls.

What We Care About

Honest materials. We tell you exactly what something is made of. If a bag is water-repellent, we say water-repellent — not waterproof. If a pillow cover is polyester velvet, we say so. You should know what you are buying.

Prints that last. Our fabrics are chosen for color fastness. A print should look as good on the hundredth day as it did on the first.

Design over volume. We would rather make fewer things well than a hundred things carelessly.
